Valorant has become a sensation in the gaming community. With millions of players worldwide, everyone is eager to sharpen their skills and climb the ranks. However, even the most skilled players make mistakes, which could be the deciding factor between a win and a loss. In this guide, we will discuss common mistakes that players make in Valorant, that you must avoid to improve your gameplay.

    Smoking incorrectly:

The first big mistake players make in Valorant is smoking incorrectly. Brimstone and Omen smokes are essential tools to gain control of a point, but players often use them incorrectly. The primary purpose of smoking is to smoke off enemy power angles like heaven and chokepoints, giving your team space to push onto the point. However, players tend to smoke off their own line of sight, which is counterproductive. Additionally, smokes should be placed on the edge of a door frame, leaving no space for enemies to push through.

10 Mistakes to Avoid in Valorant as a Beginner

    Planting in defaults:

Players often plant the spike in the default spot without considering the sight control. Planting in default may seem safe, but it leaves you open to enemy abilities like Raze’s grenades, Brimstone’s smokes, and Sova’s shock arrows. Instead, players should plant in a position where their team has sight control, giving them an advantage to contest the spike from a powerful angle.

    Reloading after every kill:

One of the most common mistakes players make is reloading after every kill. Reloading gives away your location, and enemies will often counter-swing based on the sound. It is best to use your ammo as a resource and reload only when you have to.

    Using abilities incorrectly:

Valorant agents have unique abilities that players can use to gain an advantage. However, players often misuse these abilities, leading to their downfall. For example, players should not use Sova’s shock arrows randomly but should use them to clear corners or check chokepoints. Similarly, players should not use Viper’s poison cloud in the open, but use it to cut off enemy’s line of sight.

    Not Using Utility Effectively

Valorant is a game that relies heavily on utility. Players who don’t use their utility effectively put their team at a disadvantage. Players should learn to use their utility to clear corners, slow down enemy pushes, and create opportunities for their team.

    Not Communicating with the Team

Communication is essential to rank up in Valorant. Players who don’t communicate with their team make it difficult to coordinate and execute strategies. Players should communicate with their team about enemy positions, their movements, and any other useful information.

    Not Using Cover

Not using cover is another mistake that players make. Players who don’t use cover are easy targets for enemies. Players should learn to use cover to protect themselves and peek out to take shots at the enemy.

    Not Knowing When to Fallback

Knowing when to retreat is an essential skill in Valorant. Players who don’t know when to retreat put themselves and their team at risk. Players should learn to recognize when a push is not working and retreat to a safe position to regroup and try again.

    Focusing Too Much on Kills

Players also make the mistake of focusing too much on killing. Even though kills are important in Valorant, they are not the only thing that decides who wins. Players should try to work as a team, talk to their teammates, and play the objective. The goal of the game is to plant or defuse the spike, and getting kills should come second.

Not Using Sound to Your Advantage

Players also make a mistake when they don’t use sound to their advantage. Sound is an important part of Valorant because it helps players see what their opponents are doing and predict what they will do next. Players should pay close attention to sounds like footsteps, gunshots, and other noises to figure out where their opponents are. Players should also use sound to their advantage by distracting their opponents and leading them in the wrong direction.

If you avoid these common mistakes, you can play Valorant much better and increase your chances of winning. Keep in mind that practice makes perfect, so keep improving your skills and learning how your agent works. Don’t be afraid to try out new techniques and strategies, but always remember the basics of the game.

Have you made any of these mistakes in Valorant, or do you have any other tips and tricks to share? We want to know what you think in the section below. Let’s talk about the game and help each other get better.
