FaZe Clan Bids Farewell to Its Female Valorant Roster

FaZe Clan has recently hit our new feeds for some major changes that we all saw coming given their recent struggles. They have decided to part ways with its Valorant Game Changers roster, just six months after announcing their signing. Let’s take a closer look at this decision and challenges facing FaZe Clan in 2023.

    The Valorant Game Changers Departure

On March 7, 2023, FaZe Clan looked like they meant business by signing the free agent roster known as “hamboigas.” This roster featured a mix of former CS:GO veterans and young talents who were looking to make their mark in professional Valorant.

The team consisted of Diane ‘di^’ Tran, Madison ‘Maddie’ Mann, Jenifer ‘refinnej’ Le, Emma ‘sHMeaty’ Choe, and Vannesa ‘panini’ Emory.

During their brief six-month tenure with FaZe Clan, the Game Changers squad did not manage to secure any trophies. However, they did qualify for the North American Game Changers main events Series 1 and Series 2, where they faced early exits.

Despite this setback, some members of the roster are planning to stick together and compete in the upcoming NA Game Changers Series 3 under the name ‘homeless.’

It’s worth noting that FaZe Clan has not officially announced its exit from Riot Games’ esports scene, but currently, the organization doesn’t have any professional players signed under its banner.

    FaZe’s Troubles Extend Beyond Valorant

The departure of the Valorant Game Changers team is not the only challenge FaZe Clan is grappling with in 2023. Earlier in the year, on July 24, FaZe Clan dropped its male roster following a disappointing fifth-sixth place finish at the North American Challengers playoffs. This decision meant they missed out on the opportunity to participate in the Americas Ascension tournament.

FaZe Clan is the only one with financial struggles, as TSM, another top-tier organization in the NA Challengers League, also parted ways with its squad shortly after the competition’s conclusion and has yet to sign new players as of the time of writing.

    THANK YOU @dianeCSGO @maddiesuun @refinnejle @qtpanini @EmyyCSGO ❤️

We couldn’t be more appreciative of your time representing FaZe Clan. We know you all have bright futures ahead of you, and we look forward to cheering you on through the rest of your careers! #FaZeUp pic.twitter.com/mMJTOywN8v

Additionally, FaZe Clan’s difficulties extend beyond its competitive teams. The organization faced internal issues, including a high-profile change at the top. On September 10, 2023, the Board of Directors made the decision to terminate the contract of CEO Lee Trink.

This abrupt change in leadership comes as FaZe Clan‘s stock price has experienced a sharp decline, raising concerns about potential delisting from the NASDAQ.

As FaZe Clan navigates these turbulent waters, questions loom about its future in the NA Challengers League and its overall stability as an esports organization. The NA Challengers League is set to commence in early 2024, and whether FaZe Clan will be part of the league remains uncertain.

In the meantime, FaZe Clan has installed Christoph Pachler, the current Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, as the interim CEO. Pachler, with his experience at Sony and Playboy, steps into the role during a pivotal moment for the organization.

All in all, 2023 has proven to be a challenging year for FaZe Clan, marked by roster changes, leadership shifts, and financial concerns. The esports community will be closely watching to see how FaZe Clan adapts to these challenges and whether they can regain their footing in the competitive gaming landscape.
