We have officially entered the age where your choice of pronouns can deem you politically incorrect. DrDisrespect recently got into some controversy for his choice of words apparently. Let me break it down for you.
Dr. Disrespect, aka Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, upset the gaming community on September 1, 2023, when he said some things during a livestream.
The streaming star caused a stir when he said that Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of the highly anticipated game Starfield, had decided not to work with him because of “past controversies.” Given how big and important Dr. Disrespect is in the gaming world, many people were surprised by the news.
Gaming and Pronouns: Why Dr Disrespect’s Starfield Stream Went Viral
At the heart of the controversy was a key moment during the livestream. As Dr. Disrespect moved around the Starfield character creation screen, he was asked to choose which pronouns he liked best. The streamer, who is known for making bold and sometimes controversial comments, didn’t hide how he felt.
The people who play games caught on quickly. Comment by Dr. Disrespect: “He/him. I get it! Okay. Things are starting to make sense now. “‘Now everything is starting to make sense,'” got both praise and criticism.
Some people on Twitter even said they were thinking about getting their money back for Starfield because it had a pronoun in it. One gamer said, “When Starfield asked me for pronouns, I almost sent it back. I still might, but I don’t like it.”
Some of these poor young people are just depressed. No life experience and completely misdirected by the internet.
Look at my words being taken out of context here. Their insecurities are obvious.

The r/LivestreamFail subreddit quickly became a place where people talked about hot topics. Dr. Disrespect’s comments about pronouns were talked about and shared by tens of thousands of fans. There were many different responses.
For example, Reddit user u/Imaginary_Unit5109 weighed in on the debate, and another said something about how Dr. Disrespect’s popularity seemed to be going down. u/singh853 also poked fun at Dr. Disrespect’s response to Bethesda’s position.

Outside of Reddit, there was a lot going on on Twitter. CapriSunnPapi, another Twitch Streamer, gave their opinion. Also, blaustoise said that Dr. Disrespect, who is a game developer himself, should hold the Gaming Industry to a higher standard.
Another Twitch streamer, SpaceCowboy, was unhappy with the way Dr Disrespect’s career has been going lately. Opera GX is known for its funny tweets, so it didn’t pass up the chance to join in with a meme.
