Many in the Valorant community consider Fnatic Chronicle to be the GOAT (Greatest of All Time). With three VCT event wins under his belt, the “GOAT” chants have become a common refrain among fans and critics alike.
However, all great teams face a loss at some point. For Chronicle and his crew, their dream of an unbeaten run was shattered when they lost multiple maps and series. Meanwhile, LOUD, the South American kingpins, took their revenge by knocking Fanatic out of the tournament.
Following their Valorant season climax at Valorant Champions 2023, Fnatic secured their spot in the top four but fell short of clinching their third trophy of the year.
The EMEA squad’s performance throughout the VCT calendar was commendable, notably winning VCT LOCK//IN, clinching victory at VCT Masters Tokyo, and going undefeated in the VCT EMEA regular season.
The squad is now taking a well-deserved break, given that their competitive calendar has come to a close. Although there are off-season events on the horizon, having played nearly the maximum number of matches at the highest level, they surely deserve this break.
During a livestream on August 30, Fnatic’s Timofey ‘Chronicle’ Khromov took the time to address fans’ burning questions. One of the most pressing queries was about Fnatic’s off-season plans to bolster the team.
Chronicle reassured fans, stating, “We know the problems, we know how to fix it. We will fix it definitely… everyone in our team is a professional who knows how to work… We will definitely fix everything in the next year.”
Roster rumors inevitably swirl around top teams after intense tournaments. When fans probed about potential off-season roster changes for Fnatic, Chronicle was quick to quash such speculations.
“We are not making any changes,” he asserted during the stream. “We didn’t even discuss it. Don’t trust anyone, they’re lying. When we do some changes, you will know about it.”
For context, Fnatic had revamped its team during the 2022-23 off-season, incorporating Chronicle and Initator expert Leo ‘Leo’ Jannesson. This new formation led to one of the most remarkable streaks in Valorant esports history. Therefore, it implies that the team isn’t keen on further changes.
Additionally, Fnatic’s players have contracts that extend till 2024 and 2025. Any players with a change of heart would need to see out their contractual obligations.
The off-season promises to be filled with intriguing signings, especially with teams like Karmine Corp changing their main roster. Yet, it’s safe to say that Fnatic will the same set of legends on their main roster.
