Jeremy “Wailers” Gan made history in esports when he went from being a professional Call of Duty player to making it to the top league of Valorant. Fans are amazed by how he went from playing Call of Duty with a controller to playing Valorant with a mouse and keyboard.
Wailers got his start in esports when he joined Team Vitality, which is one of the best esports teams in France. Wailers showed off his skills on the Call of Duty battlefield along with the French Call of Duty legend Corentin “Gotaga” Houssein.

Even though they worked really hard together, the team couldn’t win any championships for France. This left them wanting more success.

Wailers made the brave decision around the end of 2021 to switch to Valorant, a tactical first-person shooter game made by Riot Games. He had to learn a whole new way to play the game because Valorant is played with a mouse and keyboard.
The change was not easy, and Wailers found himself competing in the Tier 3 French scene at first. Still, he kept going because he was determined and loved the game.

Wailers got his big break when his former teammate Gotaga, who had become a very popular streamer, put together the Gentle Mates Valorant team. Wailers became a key member of the team because of his experience and skills from playing Call of Duty.
Wailers’ esports career started a new chapter when Gentle Mates was formed. It gave him a chance to prove himself in a different competitive setting.
The Gentle Mates team went on an amazing journey through the French Challengers circuit, which led them to the VCT EMEA Ascension tournament. Even though the road was hard and the competition was fierce, the team didn’t give up.
They finished second in their group and got the second seed for the playoffs, but they lost early in the playoffs and wound up in the lower bracket.
Even though there was a problem in their way, the Gentle Mates stuck together and went on an amazing lower bracket run. They showed how strong and determined they were by only losing one map in the whole lower bracket stage.
One of their most memorable moments was when they went up against the favourite team, Apeks, and beat them 3-0. This win made Wailers’ reputation as a top-tier player even stronger and showed that his move to Valorant wasn’t for nothing.
Gentle Mates got into the VCT EMEA League because they played so well. This is the highest level of Valorant esports in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With this win, the team joined the likes of Team Vitality and Karmine Corp. as one of the best French Valorant teams.
The fact that they are in the VCT EMEA League not only shows how good they are, but it also solidifies France’s position in the very competitive Valorant scene.
