From Reyna to Jett: Unlocking the Carry Potential of Duelists In VALORANT

If you’ve played VALORANT for a while, you know that Duelists are some of the most important characters in the game. Duelists have the most carry ability in the game, from Reyna going out of control to Jett destroying defenses all by himself.

But what makes the best Duelists different from the rest? We’ll use the guide and reference from ProGuides to look at everything you need to know about the Duelist role in this piece.

From Reyna to Jett: Unlocking the Carry Potential of Duelists in VALORANT

The Role Foundation: What is a Duelist and Their Goals?

On paper, Duelists seem like a simple job. They are trying to find a way for their team to attack bomb sites, and on defense, they want to fight over dangerous, high-value neutral parts of the map to help start a retake. But if your job in VALORANT requires you to be aggressive and open doors for your team, you need to make the best decisions not only on your team but also in the lobby. If you make a mistake, you could lose your life and your team’s attack leader.

Duelist Utility: How Does It Work?

People often think that the utility of a Duelist is less important than something like an Initiator, but this is not true. If that were true, teams would just play five Initiators. Even though a Duelist’s utility doesn’t directly help their team get kills like a Sova dart or a Viper wall would, it’s the selfish nature of the utility that lets them be bold and enter sites well. So, the best Duelists know how to weigh the risks of each play and figure out what will help their team open up more of the map.

The Keys to Climbing: Micro and Macro Do’s and Don’ts

If Duelists don’t kill people and open up the map, they’re almost useless. So, there has never been a time in VALORANT’s past when a team felt like, “I have a Jett and a Reyna on my team, and that’s not enough.” Just that shows how important the job can be. Because of this, it’s important to know how to climb. Do’s for micro include taking advantage of 1v1s, pre-aiming angles, and playing to learn. Some micro don’ts are being too bold, picking fights that aren’t in your favor, and overextending. On the other hand, macro do’s include playing for the team and helping out when needed. Some things you shouldn’t do in macro are to be a lurker, not play for trades, and not do your job.

Creating Space: What Does It Mean, and How Can You Achieve It?

To make space, your team needs to get through tough choke spots. This doesn’t always mean killing people or even being the first person to kill someone. All you have to do is be the first one to move. For example, Jett’s smoke and dash move pushes the enemy team back and distracts them at the same time. They can’t ignore her, so they have to decide whether to focus on Jett, who is pretty safe in her smoke, or try to stop her friends who are running in behind her. Because of this, the best players use these situations to their advantage by having the best skills.

Mechanics: How to Improve Your Aim and Movement Abilities

Aim training:  Aiming, movements, crosshair placement, and a lot more are all part of the game’s mechanics. A Duelist’s aim is the most important part of their game, since it determines what they can and can’t do and how many fights they can win. Being a good Duelist is all about being able to kill things quickly and quickly after each other. But it takes time and practice to learn the skills you need. Here are some ways to make your skills better:

Training your aim: Consistent training of your aim is the key to good skills. You can get better at aiming by using training maps or playing unique games.

Movement: Being able to move around is important for making space and winning fights. If you know how to use them well, you can get a huge edge in the game. Use different ways to move, like Jett’s dash or Phoenix’s flash, over and over again to get better at them.

Crosshair placement is keeping your crosshair at head height and pre-aiming common angles. It gives you an edge in fights, which helps you win more of them.

Game sense is just as important as good skills. You need to know when to push, fall back, or switch. Game sense comes from playing and thinking about games, so keep playing and thinking about them to get better.

Duelists are the most important characters in VALORANT, and they can carry the most. To play the part, a player needs to be aggressive, make openings for their team, and be good at making decisions. To be a good Duelist, you need good mechanics, such as aim, moving skills, and a sense of the game. You can get better and move up the ranks if you keep practicing and work hard.

Remember to play for the team, take good 1v1s, and make space to be a valuable part of your team.
