VALORANT: Tarik’s Pro City 10s Turns out to be a MASSIVE Disaster

“Pro city 10s,” a private ranking system that was just put into place in the gaming community, has turned out to be a disaster. Players have been having temper tantrums, not talking to each other, and bringing the system to a halt. The idea behind the ranked plate system was to make it like what the CS:GO players used to have at FPL, where they could play in 10-person teams and actually talk to each other in a much better setting than the usual ranked matches.

Choosing who gets to play and who doesn’t is a very controversial issue. The organiser, Tarik, has set up a council to decide this, but it’s not clear how it works, and it’s clear that some players don’t agree with some of the players who are allowed in. Some of the drama has happened here.

VALORANT: Tarik’s Pro City 10s turning out to be a MASSIVE Disaster

Tarik said last night that they are making the queues anonymous so that players can’t see who else is in them. This made some players, like Marved (an ex-Optic player), feel a little hurt because they were picked sixth or seventh out of all the players and didn’t know who some of the other players were. He was looking up some of the guys who were getting picked before him and saying, “What’s his name? What are his earnings? “.

Fair enough, some pros think, “I don’t want to play with someone so bad, they shouldn’t even be here,” but it’s hard because if you’re a pro player, you probably think you only want Pros in the queue. But part of the point of this could be to give Tier 2 players a chance to play with the Pros, gain more experience, practise more, and get known by the Pros. But many of the players don’t really want that to happen.

It’s pretty hard to keep all of these different ideas and philosophies in check. The pros want it built for them, but Tarik believes it should be built for the entire radiant-esque community. Tarik talks about why the queues are becoming anonymous and which teams were to blame.

In the end, the idea behind the ranked system was good, but it has been a disaster to put into practice. The disagreement over which players are allowed in and which aren’t has caused drama and anger among players. Making the queues anonymous was a good idea on Tarik’s part, but it’s still not clear if this will solve the problem. It’s hard to find a good balance between building for Pros and building for the whole community, but hopefully a way can be found to make the ranked better for all players.
