Why Did Activision Scrap Swagg’s Custom CoD Bundle Amidst NICKMERCS Controversy?

Swagg, a hugely popular Call of Duty content creator, recently told his fans some bad news. He confirmed that he was originally set to get a custom bundle in the highly anticipated Warzone 2 game. But Swagg’s plans were scrapped because of the controversy surrounding another content creator, NICKMERCS.

The year 2023 was supposed to be the start of a new era for the Call of Duty series, as fans eagerly awaited the release of custom Operators based on their favourite streaming personalities.

Activision Scraps Swagg’s Custom CoD Bundle Amidst Controversy

NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman were the first to receive this honour earlier in the year. They got their own Operator skins and other cosmetics. Unfortunately, their bundles were quickly taken out of the game after a lot of controversy.

Swagg has been playing Call of Duty his whole life, so he was thrilled to be able to design his own cosmetic content. Even though it wasn’t going to be a full-fledged Operator skin like NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman, the idea of having his own weapon Blueprint in the franchise he loved meant everything to him.

In May, Swagg started talking with the developers, and he worked closely with them to bring his skin ideas to life. He even had the chance to go to the studio and see how things were going.

But as the NICKMERCS controversy grew and spread through social media, Activision quickly decided to take away his custom bundle. TimTheTatman’s bundle followed soon after.

Swagg showed his disappointment by saying that he had expected the outcome. He was heartbroken and said it was a missed chance. Activision has decided to go in a different direction and will not be moving forward with his bundle.

Swagg’s dream of making his own custom weapon has been put on hold indefinitely, and it doesn’t look like developers have any plans to bring it up again soon. In fact, he thinks that Activision might not work with content creators at all after this incident.

Swagg and his fans are upset by this turn of events, but it’s clear that the controversy over NICKMERCS and its effects have influenced Activision’s decision. It remains to be seen how the company will work with content creators in the future.

The Call of Duty community is excited for new updates and hopes that Swagg will eventually get another chance to show off his creativity in the game.

What are your thoughts on Activision’s decision to scrap Swagg’s custom bundle? Do you think they should reconsider and give him another opportunity? Share your opinions in the comments section below!
