Riot Games Takes a Stand Against Toxicity: Restricting Ranked Access for Disruptive Players

Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends, have taken a big step towards combating toxicity and promoting a better gaming environment by announcing a policy that limits ranked play for players who have been banned for disruptive behaviour.

A new era of responsibility and fairness has arrived in the competitive sphere of League of Legends, as Riot promised to tackle the game’s long-standing toxicity issues in their most recent development blog update.

    Addressing the Toxicity Problem

Toxic players that engage in antisocial behaviour, such as intentional feeding, excessive chat abuse, and repetitive instances of AFK (Away From Keyboard), have been a constant source of problems for League of Legends.

Riot Games Takes a Stand Against Toxicity: Restricting Ranked Access for Disruptive Players

Riot Games recognises that these types of disruptive behaviour create a negative environment and diminish the overall Ranked queue experience. In order to provide a cleaner, more enjoyable playing experience, Riot has committed to implementing stricter measures in the coming months.

    The Restriction Implementation

New rules from Riot will soon make it such that players who have been banned for disruptive behaviour cannot join the Ranked queue. This implies that players who participate in intentional feeding, exhibit severe chat abuse, or persistently go AFK will be temporarily barred from playing ranked games.

Those who have been removed from the Ranked queue will need to focus on other lines before they may return.

Account Bans for Consistent Disruptive Behavior

Riot Games stresses that these steps are in addition to the aforementioned limits and current sanctions. When a player’s account is banned, they are permanently prevented from joining any games in any queues for a predetermined amount of time if they have a history of disruptive behaviour.

Riot’s goal with this all-encompassing strategy is to reduce the number of toxic players who negatively impact the experience for everyone else.

Faster Reporting and More Effective Penalties

Riot Games has considerably sped up the processing of reports relating to toxic and feeding players to reinforce their efforts against toxic behaviour. This update makes it so punishments come quickly, sending a clear message that this kind of behaviour is not accepted in the League of Legends community.

Riot aims to develop a more responsive and accountable system by raising the rate at which it responds to reported occurrences.

Riot Games has taken a major step forward in its continuing campaign against toxicity in League of Legends by limiting toxic players’ access to rated games. They hope that by taking these steps, they can create a gaming environment that is more welcoming and level playing field for everyone.

Riot’s goal in enforcing responsibility is to foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and a courteous community inside their massively successful game. In the next months, fans of League of Legends will be able to enjoy a more enjoyable and toxic-free ranked experience as these regulations go into effect.
