Counter-Strike 2 Hype Sparks Talks of 100 Thieves’ Return to the Scene

One of the most famous esports games in the world, Counter-Strike (CS) has millions of players and fans all over the world. The well-known esports organization 100 Thieves, which was started by Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, hasn’t done much with the game in the past, but there are reports that the organization may be thinking about coming back to the scene.

Nadeshot used to be a professional Call of Duty player, and 100 Thieves has done well in other games like League of Legends and Valorant. But the group’s experience in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) has been short and random. In 2017, they came onto the scene when they bought the old Immortals team, which had some of the best players in the game. A month later, they stopped doing the esport altogether.

In 2019, 100 Thieves came back onto the scene when they bought the Australian Renegades team. But a year later, they left the space again and haven’t been active in CS:GO since. Despite this, many members of the organization, including Nadeshot, clearly enjoy the game and want to see 100 Thieves return to the scene.

The excitement about the new game Counter-Strike 2 has helped spread reports about a possible return to CS. Fans are excited to see what groups will be in the new game, and many think that 100 Thieves could be one of them.

Haag recently talked about the rumors on the CouRage and Nadeshot show on YouTube, where he stated that he loves Counter-Strike and would like to play it again. He did say, though, that the economics of esports make it hard for groups like 100 Thieves to support their participation.

Nadeshot talked about how expensive it is to run a CS team, citing things like player pay and logistics. Travel is a big part of CS, and players often have to move to Europe for events and training camps. Also, North American CS has been suffering in recent years, which makes it harder for groups like 100 Thieves to explain why they should be involved.

Even with these problems, Nadshot didn’t say for sure that he wouldn’t go back to CS. He said that 100 Thieves could come back if the org had more freedom in the future and if the timing and finances were right. Nadeshot also compared CS to other games that the team plays, pointing out that selling stickers in CS made them more money than playing in other leagues for years.

As games continue to grow and change, it’s still not clear if 100 Thieves will come back to CS:GO. But, based on what Nadeshot said, the organization is not in a position to do that right now. Still, fans of both 100 Thieves and CS will surely be paying close attention to what happens next.
