Fortnite might be coming back to iOS devices soon, now that the EU has passed new rules that let people download apps that aren’t on the App Store. This could be a big win for fans of Fortnite, who haven’t been able to play the game on Apple devices since 2020, when Epic Games sued Apple.

Apple will finally allow users to sideload apps onto their devices with iOS 17. This is due to recent EU laws and regulations.

*in theory* this would allow companies like Epic Games to have their own app store on iOS, which would mean the return of Fortnite to Apple devices. pic.twitter.com/brFBDruvul

The case started because Apple charged developers a platform fee for every in-game purchase made through the App Store. This meant that V-Bucks cost more on iOS than on PC and console versions of the game. People all over the world heard about the fight between Epic Games and Apple, but in the end, Epic Games lost the case.

Apple Devices May Soon Get Fortnite Access Again Thanks to New EU Regulations

According to reports, the new EU rules will let iOS users sideload apps like Google Play Services or the Epic Games Launcher, which will host a number of other apps that can only be viewed through the hosted apps. This means that players will be able to use the Epic Games Launcher to play Fortnite on any iOS device they want.

Even though this rule only applies to iPhone and iPad users in the EU, it is a big step forward for the millions of Fortnite fans who have been unable to play the game on their Apple devices for the past three years. It’s also a good sign that rules are changing to make sure that customers have easier access.

iOS 17 is coming out later this year, and many iPhone gamers are already looking forward to it. Players are hopeful that they will be able to play Fortnite on their Apple devices once more, despite speculation that the new rules might only apply to specific iPhone and iPad types.

This news story shows that there is still a discussion going on about app store fees and rules, and how they can affect both developers and customers. Even though the fight between Epic Games and Apple got a lot of attention, it is important to think about how these rules will affect the video game business as a whole.

Overall, the possible return of Fortnite to iOS devices is a big deal for gamers and a step in the right direction toward giving customers more access and choice. As rules continue to change and adapt, it will be interesting to see how this affects the video game business and how gamers all over the world play games.
