I’ll be honest, I had no clue Baldur’s Gate had adult elements in the overall gameplay. After going through the ton of rave reviews, I thought I’d dig deeper into the Baldur’s Gate universe.
To my surprise, a significant portion of the community was buzzing with questions for the developers regarding the game’s future updates or the possibility of a sequel. Well, for those curious souls, here’s the latest scoop on what’s next for this beloved series.
Baldur’s Gate 3‘s explosive start in the gaming world has made it clear that it is one of the most successful PC games to come out so far. Now that the game is about to come out on PS5, even more people will be interested in it.
In a revealing interview on the Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel, Swen Vincke, the visionary director of Baldur’s Gate 3, said that the game’s launch on consoles was basically the end of his involvement with it.
The journey doesn’t end there, though. While Vincke’s team keeps improving the game with patches like the much-talked-about fix to Karlach’s ending, the director himself is looking ahead to a new project.
So, what could possibly come after the massive Baldur’s Gate 3? In the same interview, Todd Kenreck asked Vincke what he was currently inspired by. Vincke dodged the question and hinted that it had something to do with his next game.

As the console versions were being sent out, Vincke confirmed, “The PS5 version is shipping, we just uploaded it, so I’m done. I’m going to play another game.”
It’s important to remember that even though Vincke’s part in Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to be coming to an end, the game will still change. Vincke told fans, “They will come to us with requests and ideas, and our dedicated team will make sure they come true.”
Vincke also gave hints that he has been thinking about his next project for a long time. The question still stands: What will the future bring? When asked what he liked, Vincke said that he liked both fantasy and science fiction, but that he was very “picky” about what he liked.
This makes people wonder if Larian Studios’s next project could take players to the stars. Right now, nothing is certain, but since Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in development for a long time (six years! ), it’s best not to get too excited. No matter what, just the idea of a new game from Larian Studios is enough to look forward to.
