Overwatch 2, the sequel to the hit game by Blizzard Entertainment, is already keeping fans on their toes. In a strange series of cryptic tweets, the game’s Executive Producer, Jared Neuss, recently gave hints that major changes were coming to competitive ranked play.
The Overwatch community, especially competitive players, are always looking forward to new information. They love getting new content,anti-cheat updates, and any changes or improvements that Blizzard can make. And as time goes on, it looks like the people making Overwatch 2 want to do just that.

When Jared Neuss replied to a couple of fan comments with the “👀” emoji, it sparked a lot of rumours about what he was up to. One of these was a request for ranks to be shown again during games.
Overwatch 2’s Executive Producer Drops Clues about Competitive Game Enhancements
For those who don’t know, in the first version of Overwatch, players in the competitive lobby could see the ranks of everyone else. In the sequel, however, this feature was taken out.
Many people think that hiding ranks was an attempt by Blizzard to make the game less toxic, since players used to compare their ranks and often felt like losers as a result. However, others say that this might have been a strategic move on Blizzard’s part.
The second group thinks that hiding ranks could be a way for Blizzard to hide problems with matchmaking by putting speed in queue times ahead of making games that are fair.

No matter what the reason is, one thing is true: the community has missed being seen. And if Neuss’s vague answer is any indication, this might be a feature set that comes back.
Neuss’s emoji-filled response was also in response to another tweet that asked about adding more competitive rewards. This, along with the fact that his old comments about new cosmetics were brought up, led to heated debates. Could the Overwatch 2 team be making new cosmetics and rewards for ranked play right now?
It’s important to remember that the game’s creators have made a lot of good changes in the past. Take the new Hero Progression feature as an example.
As players levelled up their heroes, they could earn hero emblems and name cards. This was part of the Invasion update. The community loved this change because it gave players more reasons to play and made it less painful to lose.
The world of Overwatch 2 is always changing based on player feedback and the way games are made. As long as players keep putting in hours and hoping for fair matches, new content, and more rewards, it looks like the development team is just as dedicated.
With these possible new additions to the competitive play scene, Overwatch 2 could be getting ready to offer its community an even more engaging experience.
