Players of two very popular video games, Fortnite and Overwatch 2, are excited about the possibility of a crossover event between the two games. Through a special mod made by a dedicated modder, fans got a taste of what this collaboration could be like.
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) strike against this mod for allegedly “leaking” content, however, encountered a roadblock very quickly.
Fortnite & Overwatch 2 Crossover Mod Faces DMCA Trouble for ‘Leaked’ Content
Fortnite is known for its crazy crossovers, where characters from different franchises like Marvel and Star Wars appear together.
Other games have done the same thing because they saw how popular and successful these partnerships were. In line with this trend, the team working on Overwatch 2 has been looking into crossover events, such as bringing the world of One Punch Man into their game. Even more exciting crossovers are coming, they have said.

With the idea of a crossover between Fortnite and Overwatch becoming more popular, a modder decided to show what an official event might look like. The modder, who goes by the name “ponyraee,” made a mod that put several Overwatch 2 heroes into the battle royale setting of Fortnite.
Some of the heroes in Fortnite, like Tracer, Widowmaker, D.Va, Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko, were beautifully drawn and kept all their small details.
Videos and pictures of the mod were all over social media. They showed Tracer doing the “Party Hips” emote and Kiriko doing things like chopping down trees, acting, jumping, and shooting.
Players gave the mod a lot of praise, and many said they would love to work with the creators on an official project. But this excitement didn’t last long because the video and screenshots were quickly taken down from social media sites.
Ponyraee, the person who made the mod, said on July 17 that the DMCA strikes were aimed at their posts. They said they didn’t understand what was going on and that someone who had reported the posts had accused them of “leaking” Overwatch 2 information.
People started to think that Fortnite and Overwatch might work together, but it’s still not clear what will happen to these games in the future. We won’t know if the creators are planning a crossover until time passes.

*UPDATE : BLizzard has taken down a ton of posts from @Ponyrae due to copyrights. More update on this will be posted in the coming days.
Fans can only hope that the DMCA strikes don’t make it impossible for Fortnite and Overwatch 2 to work together. The mod gave a tantalising look at what could be a fun and well-liked event.
As players eagerly wait for more news from the developers, the idea of combining these two popular game worlds is still exciting and interesting.
