While some Overwatch 2 fans have praised the new additions, including the Push game mode and hero reworks, others have been critical of the lack of promised content, such as the PvE story mode.
One player recently noticed some overlooked cosmetic features that were teased in old trailers for the game but were not present in the final version.
What Happened to Overwatch 2’s Banners and Emotes?
Dearest @OhReallyJared
I'm so sorry for ating you but I must know. In old promo for Overwatch 2 we saw these banners and thumbs up/down emotes. Have these been scraped? Or have these been delayed to focus on important things? Like skins with toes for each hero.

The Teased Cosmetic Types
In the trailers for Overwatch 2, Blizzard teased several new cosmetic types that piqued the interest of fans. These included banners and a thumbs up and thumbs down emote. However, upon the game’s release, these features were nowhere to be found.
Jared Neuss, executive producer for Overwatch, confirmed that these cosmetic types are “on hold” at the moment but that they may make an appearance at some point in the future.
Fans were naturally disappointed that they would have to wait longer for these features, but Neuss’s statement provides hope that they will eventually be added to the game.
Weapon Inspection Animation
Another cosmetic feature that was teased but not delivered in the final version of the game is the weapon inspection animation.
Neuss previously stated that this was not a top priority for the development team during Season 3. However, he did mention that it would eventually come to the game, no earlier than Season 6.
The Missing PvE Mode
The missing PvE mode has been one of the main criticisms of Overwatch 2 since its release. Fans were excited about the promise of a new story mode that would expand upon the game’s lore and provide a new way to play. However, the mode was not included in the initial release, and there has been no news about when it will be added.
Hope for the Future
Despite the disappointment over missing features, fans of Overwatch 2 remain hopeful that Blizzard will deliver on its promises. The confirmation that the teased cosmetic types are still on the table gives hope that other missing features, such as the PvE mode, will eventually be added to the game.
Blizzard has a history of listening to player feedback and making changes to the game based on that feedback. The company has also been known to release new content and features over time, even years after a game’s initial release.
For example, World of Warcraft, another popular Blizzard game, has seen numerous expansions and updates over the years, keeping the game fresh and exciting for players.
