EG’s Nightmare Continues: International Losing Streak Haunts CS:GO Roster

Fans and players alike can feel like they’re on a roller coaster when they watch or play competitive video games. In just a few weeks, a team can go from being the favorite to the underdog.

Evil Geniuses (EG), a professional esports team that plays the popular first-person shooter game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), is at all-time low point after a recent string of losses.

EG’s Nightmare Continues: International Losing Streak Haunts CS:GO Roster

IHC Esports of Mongolia beat EG in the ESL Pro League Season 17 for their most recent loss. Even though EG won one map, it wasn’t enough to turn the game in their favor. In the end, IHC’s 16-6 win on their best map, Nuke, was enough to send EG to last place in the tournament.

When asked how he felt about the win after the game, IHC player Tuvshintugs “Annihilation” Nyamdorj said, “I’m happy with it, even though it’s only EG.” The comment made the IHC team and even the caster laugh, which shows how hard things are for EG right now.

Heroic was ranked number one, but EG beat them in a surprise upset at BLAST Premier Spring Groups earlier this year. This was the start of EG’s slump. Since then, it has been hard for the team to win, and they have lost 10 of their last 11 best-of-three matches.

Even the team’s only win was against Mythic during the NA RMR qualifier, a tournament that EG lost and caused them to miss the Paris CS:GO Major.

Fans and people in the community have paid a lot of attention to how the team has done, and some have even questioned the coaching staff and management. Even EG’s coach, Daniel Vorborg, admitted that he should have done more to prepare the team for the RMR qualifier and that the team’s problems were his fault.

Adding fuel to the fire, Liquid star Keith “NAF” Markovic said that his talk with EG management earlier this year did not impress him, which is why he stayed with the Liquid team.

This sentence makes it sound like EG’s management may be having trouble keeping their players interested and committed to the team.

Even with these problems, EG is not yet out of the game. At the BLAST Americas Spring Showdown, which is coming up in late March, the team will have a chance to make up for what they did wrong.

It will be important for EG to look at their strategies again, figure out why they lost, and work on their weaknesses so they can come back stronger.
