343 Industries Shakes Up the Halo Franchise with Multiplayer Focused Tatanka

The long-awaited video game Halo Infinite, made by 343 Industries, came out in 2021 to mixed reviews. Fans had high hopes for the game, but it was criticized for not having enough content after it came out and having a disappointing plan for the future. But now that there have been changes at the studio, 343 Industries is starting over and trying to reset the Halo franchise with “Tatanka.”

In January 2023, Microsoft said that it would be letting go of 10,000 employees. Many of the people who would lose their jobs were from 343 Industries, which was in charge of making Halo Infinite. The layoffs hurt the campaign team a lot, and they caused the studio to shift its focus from making single-player content to making multiplayer content.

The engine will change to Unreal, and the new game will be called Tatanka.

Late in 2022, when studio head Bonnie Ross left, 343 Industries switched to the Unreal Engine. A new game called Tatanka, which is being made with the help of the Austin-based game studio Certain Affinity, is said to have been started because of this switch.

The insider said that the game began as a battle royale, but it could change in other ways. But this is bad news for fans of Halo Infinite who wanted more story-driven content. The insider said that instead of making new missions for Halo Infinite, the developers were making prototypes in Unreal Engine and pitching ideas for new Halo games.

Ninja, the biggest streamer on the planet, criticized 343 Industries for not putting a battle royale mode in Halo Infinite when it came out. He said that the studio was “delusional” for not trying to copy what made Warzone so successful. TimTheTatman, who is also a content creator, agreed with Ninja and said that the game’s creators could have avoided disaster by adding a battle royale mode. 343 Industries is now focusing on multiplayer content because of recent changes at the studio, such as laying off a lot of people and switching to the Unreal Engine.

Even though the company’s main focus has changed, 343 Industries is still committed to Halo Infinite and its Forge level builder. The studio’s current plan is to focus on multiplayer content, and it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to this change.

In the end, the recent changes at 343 Industries show that the Halo franchise is getting a fresh start with “Tatanka.” Fans are excited about the future because the focus is shifting to multiplayer content and a new game is in the works. Keep an eye out for more news and updates about the Halo series and 343 Industries.
