GTA 6 has had a ton of leaks over the past month. There was a leaked call audio doing the rounds suggesting the release date of the game, which later turned out to be not real. Now, the price of the game has been leaked as well, and everyone is pretty shocked to see the steep price. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about what’s been going on in the GTA 6 rumourland.
GTA 6 Rumored To Cost Whopping $150 – The Leaked Audio Call, Real or Fake?
GTA 6 fans went into a wild over a supposedly leaked audio call featuring Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealing the game’s announcement and release date. However, there’s a strong suggestion it’s a fake. The much-anticipated return to the GTA franchise has seen hundreds of “leaks”, but few have been confirmed as real.
This audio clip surfaced in early September and appeared to confirm GTA 6’s reveal and release date. On September 2, the Twitter account ‘GTA 6 SPAM’ posted this recording. In it, Zelnick talks about fiscal 2025 as a major year for the company, hinting at Rockstar announcing the game on October 23, 2023, and releasing it on October 24, 2025.
BREAKING: apparently there’s a leaked voice note from the Take 2 interactive CEO where he discusses the release for GTA 6 , he says ‘An announcement is expected very soon this October 23rd’ ‘the next GTA is expected to launch in October 24’

Despite the excitement, there were red flags. Zelnick referred to GTA 6 as “V I”, pronouncing the Roman numerals instead of simply saying “six”. Many speculate that this clip could easily be an AI-generated fake. Furthermore, Zelnick’s mentioned release date doesn’t line up with his previous fiscal year comments.
The Staggering GTA VI Price Tag Rumour
Considering the financial buzz around its development, the figure being discussed isn’t exactly pocket change. Unofficial reports claim a $150 price tag. This isn’t entirely surprising when one looks at the purported development costs. Sources have reported Rockstar Games spending a staggering $1-2 billion on GTA 6. Some insiders even state the studio had already hit the $2 billion mark at the time of their leaks, leading many to think that $150 might indeed be the game’s retail price. If true, this would set a record for game development budgets.

Regardless, people are shocked with the idea of shelling out $150 for GTA 6, whether it’s true or not.
Some fans on Twitter couldn’t believe it and thought $150 was too much. Others point to things Rockstar has done in the past, like charging $50 for a port of a game from 10 years ago. During the debates, a few fans joked that they would need pay raises to be able to buy GTA 6.
GTA 6 to cost $150…what? https://t.co/hhzm6bW9OT

With GTA’s recent investment into Role-Playing servers, I personally believe that with the hefty price tag, it won’t just be a simple single-player campaign that comes along with it. Yes, GTA does have its own servers for heist-related multiplayer missions, but that doesn’t hold much weight when compared to the number of players on Role-Playing servers.
Spending money to acquire a share of the private role-playing servers suggests that the team has plans to integrate all of the role-playing elements directly from the in-game menu, instead of requiring the installation of a separate 3rd party client.
Either way, we should soon hear more about whether the price tag leak is genuine and how they plan to justify the steep price. Tell us in the comments what you think about everything that’s going on.
